Everything you need to set up and manage LOQT at your school — from first login to your first restriction schedule.

Introduction
LOQT is a software-based phone management platform designed for UK secondary schools. It automatically pauses distracting apps on pupils' phones during school hours — no hardware, no pouches, no daily friction.
Calls, texts, and medical apps remain active at all times. Parents can extend the same rules at home, making LOQT a complete school-to-home solution.
This guide is for the administrator or designated member of staff responsible for setting up and managing LOQT. That's typically a Deputy Head, DSL, or IT lead. You don't need to be technical — everything is designed to be simple and clear.
Fully Automated
Set it once. LOQT runs quietly in the background with no daily intervention needed.
No Hardware
Pure software. No pouches, lockers, or equipment to buy, manage, or replace.
School + Home
Parents can apply the same rules at home, extending the benefit beyond the school gate.
Always Safe
Calls, texts, and medical apps are always accessible. Safety is never compromised.
Getting Started
Setting up your school account takes just a few minutes. When you first visit the LOQT web app, you'll be guided through a simple four-step process.
Your Details
Enter your name, school name, and email address to create your administrator account.
Verify Your Email
A 6-digit code will be sent to your email. Enter it on screen to confirm your identity. Use the Resend Code link if needed.
Set Your Password
Choose a secure password. You'll use this each time you log in.
Complete
Your account is ready. You'll be taken straight to your school dashboard.
Access LOQT at school.loqt.app from any modern browser. No software installation required.
The Dashboard
After logging in, you'll land on your Dashboard. This is your home screen — a quick overview of what's happening at your school right now.
Across the top you'll see five summary tiles:
| Tile | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Pupils with No Devices | Pupils who haven't yet connected a device to LOQT. |
| Today's Restrictions | The number of restrictions scheduled for today. |
| Restrictions In Progress | Restrictions that are currently active and running. |
| Device Enrollment Ratio | The percentage of pupils who have enrolled a device. |
| Parent Cancellations Today | The number of pupils whose restrictions have been cancelled by a parent today — for example, due to illness or a medical appointment. |
Below the tiles, the Today's Restrictions panel lists any active or upcoming restrictions for the day.
If a pupil is unwell or has an appointment, parents can remove restrictions for that day using the LOQT app. A notification will be sent to your designated school email address, and the cancellation will also appear in the Parent Cancellations tile on your dashboard.
Keep an eye on the Device Enrollment Ratio. A low figure means some pupils haven't yet connected — you may need to resend their group invitation codes.
Managing Groups
Groups are how you organise pupils in LOQT. You'll typically create one group per year group — for example, Year 7, Year 8, Year 9. Restrictions can then be applied to one or more groups.
To access Groups, select Classes and Groups from the left-hand menu.
Creating a Group
Open Groups
Go to Classes and Groups. Click the + button in the top right, or Create Group or Class if no groups exist yet.
Name Your Group
Enter a clear name such as "Year 7". The name field is required. A description is optional.
Save
Click Save. The group will appear in your Groups Directory with a status of Active.
Each group automatically receives a unique Group Invitation Code when created. You'll use this to enrol pupils — see Section 5.
Enrolling Pupils
Pupils are enrolled through a simple invitation process. No bulk upload or IT setup is needed — parents complete it themselves in just a few steps.
Find the Group Invitation Code
Open the group (Classes and Groups → edit icon). The Group Invitation Code is displayed on the group page.
Share the Code with Parents
Send the code via email, letter, or your parent app. Each year group has its own unique code.
Parent Enters the Code
The parent downloads the LOQT app on their own phone and their child's phone, then enters the code during setup. This links the child's device to your school and the correct year group.
Pupil Appears in the Group
Once entered, the pupil automatically appears in the Group Members list. No further action needed from you.
Include the invitation code in your welcome communication at the start of term. The earlier pupils enrol, the sooner restrictions take effect.
Managing Users
User Management gives you a full view of everyone in your LOQT account. Select User Management from the left-hand menu to access it.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Full Name | The user's name and email address. |
| Groups | Which group(s) the user belongs to. Shows "No Group" if unassigned. |
| Role | Administrator or Pupil. |
| Status | Active or inactive. |
Use the search bar to find a specific user, or filter by role using the Filter by Role dropdown. Click the pencil icon to edit a user, or the bin icon to remove them.
Administrators can access and manage all settings in the web app. Pupils are enrolled via parent invitation and only experience LOQT through their phone.
Setting Up Restrictions
Restrictions are the heart of LOQT. A restriction defines a time window during which distracting apps are automatically paused on pupils' phones. You can assign each restriction to one or more year groups and set it to repeat automatically — so you only ever need to set it up once.
Click + Add Restriction from the Dashboard, or navigate to Restrictions in the left-hand menu.
Creating a Restriction
Give it a Name
Choose a clear name such as "School Day" or "Morning Lessons". A description is optional.
Set the Times
Enter a Start At and End At time — for example, 08:30 to 15:30 for a standard school day.
Set the Repeat Schedule
Choose when you want the restriction to repeat. Select Weekdays to run Monday to Friday automatically, or choose Specific Days to pick individual days of the week. Set it once — LOQT handles the rest.
Assign Groups
Click + Assign Group to choose which year groups this restriction applies to. You can assign multiple groups to the same restriction.
Save
Click Save. The restriction will appear in your schedule and activate automatically at the set time on the days you've chosen.
LOQT pauses distracting apps — social media, games, and entertainment. Calls, texts, and medical apps remain accessible at all times.
Start with a single "School Day" restriction set to repeat on Weekdays, covering all year groups. You only need to set this up once — LOQT handles the rest automatically.
Viewing the Schedule
The Schedule view gives you a clear picture of all restrictions across the week. Navigate to Restrictions in the left-hand menu to see it.
The calendar shows the current week with a tab for each day. Click any day to see its restrictions. Use the arrow buttons to move between weeks.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Upcoming | The restriction is scheduled and will activate at the set time. |
| In Progress | The restriction is currently active — pupils' apps are paused right now. |
| Completed | The restriction has finished for today. |
Each restriction card shows the name, times, and assigned groups. Use the pencil icon to edit or the bin icon to delete. If a day has no restrictions, LOQT shows "No restrictions found" with the option to add one.
Check the schedule at the start of each term. Remember to account for holidays, INSET days, and any special timetable changes.
